The Market in September
After rallying strongly in August, world raw sugar prices consolidated in September, with the nearby October futures contract trading in a range between USD17.5-18.5 cents/lb for most of the month. The ISA Daily Raw Sugar Price averaged USD18.4 cents/lb in September, a USD1.0 cents/lb or 6% increase from the August average. However, prices rose sharply again in the first few days of October, with the March contract moving above USD20 cents/lb.
